Hal ini berawal dari kritik keras Musk terhadap rancangan undang-undang andalan Trump yang diperkirakan akan menambah defisit anggaran 3 triliun dollar AS dalam satu dekade.
Ketegangan memuncak ketika Musk menanggapi unggahan komentator konservatif Ian Miles Cheong,pada Kamis (5/6/2025),
Dimana Cheong menuliskan di media sosial mengenai Presiden vs Elon siapa yang menjadi pemenang.
Tak hanya itu dirinya juga beranggapan bahwa Elon lah yang menang dan Trump seharusnya dimakzulkan lalu digantikan JD Vance.
Postingan tersebut ditanggapi Musk dengan mengatakan, “Ya,”seolah mengisyaratkan bahwa dirinya mendukung pemakzulan Trump.
Diketahui, beberapa bulan lalu, hubungan Trump dan Musk tampak mesra.
Bahkan Musk menyebut, dirinya mengagumi Presiden AS itu.
“Saya sangat menyukai Donald Trump.”
Namun, situasi berubah drastis. saat Musk menyebut RUU andalan Trump sebagai “kekejian” dan menyerukan agar parlemen tidak meloloskan aturan itu.
Ketegangan memuncak ketika Trump mengancam akan mencabut subsidi pemerintah untuk perusahaan-perusahaan milik Musk.
Sementara itu, atas hal ini hingga Jumat pagi, belum ada pernyataan resmi dari Wakil Presiden JD Vance.
