Peringatan tsunami dikeluarkan disejumlah negara menyusul gempa dahsyat ini termasuk Indonesia.
Gempa awalnya tercatat berkekuatan 8,0 SR, tetapi kemudian ditingkatkan menjadi 8,7 SR.
Kerusakan dan evakuasi dilaporkan di wilayah Rusia yang paling dekat dengan episentrum gempa di Semenanjung Kamchatka.
Dimungkinkan, gelombang setinggi lebih dari 3 meter mungkin terjadi di beberapa wilayah pesisir Rusia dan Ekuador.
Peringatan tsunami dikeluarkan di California, Jepang hingga Indonesia.
Jepang telah memerintahkan evakuasi segera untuk beberapa wilayah di negaranya.
Pasalnya, gelombang tsunami terpantau sedang mendekati pantai.
Badan meteorologi Jepang memprediksi, gelombang setinggi 3 meter dapat tiba di sepanjang pantai utara Jepang kurang dari setengah jam setelah peringatan.
Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) juga mengeluarkan peringatan tsunami di sejumlah wilayah Indonesia.
Hasil analisis BMKG menunjukkan, gempa Rusia berpotensi menimbulkan tsunami di Indonesia dengan status "Waspada", yakni ketinggian kurang dari 0,5 meter.
Sejumlah wilayah yang berpotensi terkena gelombang tsunami mulai dari Gorontalo, Rajaampat, Jayapura hingga Manokwari.
