Angkatan bersenjata Yaman (YAF) yang terafiliasi gerakan Houthi mengumumkan hal tersebut pada Rabu (19/6/2024) lalu waktu setempat.
Mereka juga mengklaim telah menggunakan “senjata baru”.
Yakni untuk menargetkan dan menenggelamkan kapal kargo MV Tutor tersebut.
Pernyataan tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa “beberapa senjata angkatan laut digunakan untuk menargetkan dan menenggelamkan MV Tutor.
Meski begitu, tidak ada rincian lebih lanjut yang diberikan terkait senjata terbaru yang mereka miliki.
Pada hari Selasa (18/6/2024) lalu, Angkatan Laut Inggris mengkonfirmasi bahwa MV Tutor, milik perusahaan milik Yunani, telah tenggelam.
Yakni setelah serangan pesawat tidak berawak oleh Houthi pada Rabu (12/6/2024) lalu.
Juru bicara keamanan nasional Gedung Putih, John Kirby, juga mengatakan pada hari Senin (17/6/2024) lalu bahwa serangan itu menewaskan “seorang anggota kru yang berasal dari Filipina.”
Kelompok Houthi mengklaim kapal tersebut menjadi sasaran karena melanggar larangan mereka memasuki pelabuhan Haifa .
Di mana yang diduduki dan karena mematikan Sistem Identifikasi Otomatis saat transit di Laut Merah.
