How To Fix The Power Grind (With A System That's Already In The Game) [Destiny 2]
Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate - How To Fix The Power Grind Using a System That Already Exists In Game / Suggestion to Improve The Power Grind in Destiny 2 Edge of Fate. This is just a quick video with a suggestion I have that I feel would drastically improve the main issues with the power grind. Further thoughts and details below.I've thought about making this video for a while, and have mentioned this a few times in previous videos, but I wanted to wait and see what the proposed changes were for them improving the power grind. The proposed changes in the TWID were disappointing to say the least, so I figured this would be worth a quick dedicated video.
For some extra context and clarification, as I didn't want to bloat the video:
- I think that having a power grind to chase is very good for the game. The current system doesn't feel good though.
- I'm not trying to backseat dev here, nor do I think that this would magically fix all the issues with the game. I feel that this could be a big improvement, and it leverages a system already in the game.
- The power increases from bonus engrams (or as a whole) could obviously be adjusted accordingly. Maybe everything could turn to +2 drops (instead of +3) and with bonus engrams it'd still be an improvement to currently. I don't have the data (or Bungie's goals) of how much time they reasonably expect people to take. I just know that overall sentiment towards the current time investment is extremely negative, particularly for those who can't play as much as others.
- The proposed changes in this video are purely to focus on the main pain points with the grind (content diversity, time taking to grind), and tackling them in a way that doesn't involve simply making solo ops less rewarding.
- Certain activities still need to have their rewards significantly improved to make the time investment actually worth it.
- I feel Kepler should've been leveraged as a power grind relevant option, particularly on Mythic. It feels like a huge missed opportunity.
- 400-450 (soon to be 500-550) desperately needs changes to make progression feel possible without purely relying on RNG. Even if that progression is slow. It's enough to make you quit playing entirely.
Lastly, I've normally always steered clear of giving dedicated videos with opinions or change suggestions to the game, but at this point I have never been more demotivated to play since the beginning of the franchise. There's so many good foundations, but they need drastic changes to the current state of the game.
