Saling Sanggah PBNU dan Greenpeace soal Tambang Nikel di Raja Ampat hingga Pertobatan Ekologis
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - Ketua PBNU, Ulil Abshar Abdalla mengatakan ada satu mazhab aktivisme lingkungan yang lebih mengedepankan pendekatan yang rasional, yakni reasonable environmentalist.Menurutnya, ini jauh lebih tepat, karena setuju pada isu lingkungan, tetapi juga melihat dampak-dampaknya.
"Jangan dikira bahwa concern dengan isu lingkungan tidak membawa dampak negatif. Ambil contoh ya bahwa concern kepada lingkungan yang ekstrem, itu juga membawa dampak negatif. Sekarang ini harga listrik di Jerman dan Inggris itu naik berlipat-lipat karena mereka melakukan satu transisi yang terburu-buru kepada energi non fosil," ujarnya.
Di sisi lain, Juru Kampanye Hutan Greenpeace Indonesia, Iqbal Damanik tidak setuju dengan pernyataan Gus Ulil.
Menurutnya, meski tersedia sumber daya alam, namun bukan seharusnya dikeruk habis-habisan. Kini saatnya dilakukan pertobatan ekologis.
"Ada tidak Gus negara yang maju tanpa industri ekstraktif, sehingga kita harus mengeksploitasi sumber daya alam kita?," tanya Iqbal.
"Negara-negara Eropa yang sekarang ini maju, basis ekonomi awalnya dibangun karena melakukan ekstraksi di negara-negara yang dijajah," jawab Gus Ulil.
"Betul, tapi adakah atau tidak negara yang maju tanpa industri ekstraktif?," tanya Iqbal lagi.
"Negara yang maju sekarang ini di barat, itu sebetulnya mereka maju dibangun awalnya karena ekstraksi," ujar Gus Ulil.
"Makanya ketika kita tahu bahwa industri ekstraktif ini sangat buruk sekali, maka lakukanlah pertobatan ekologis," pungkas Iqbal.
