Menurut Trump, kemajuan di Gaza saat ini sedang dibuat untuk mengakhiri perang Hamas dan Israel di Gaza.
Pernyataan itu disampaikan Trump seusai dirinya sukses melakukan gencatan senjata antara Israel dan Iran, Selasa (24/6).
"Saya rasa kemajuan besar tengah dicapai di Gaza," kata Trump kepada wartawan menjelang pertemuan puncak NATO di Belanda, seraya menambahkan bahwa utusan khususnya Steve Witkoff telah mengatakan kepadanya: "Gaza sudah sangat dekat."
Atas kemajuan tersebut, Trump mengaku optimis gencatan senjata akan terjadi dalam waktu dekat.
Menurutnya, ini merupakan kabar yang sangat baik.
Terkait hal itu, Perdana Menteri Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu membuka suara.
Netanyahu menyarankan, perang yang sempat berkecamuk antara Israel dan Iran ini dapat membantu mengakhiri konflik Gaza.
Sementara itu, mediator utama dalam perang Gaza, Qatar juga menyatakan akan melakukan dorongan baru untuk gencatan senjata.
Hal senada disampaikan pejabat Hamas Taher al-Nunu.
Menurutnya, komunikasi dengan para mediator di Mesir dan Qatar semakin intensif.
Meski demikian, pihaknya memperingatkan kelompok tersebut belum menerima usulan baru untuk mengakhiri perang.
"Komunikasi kami dengan para mediator di Mesir dan Qatar tidak terhentikan dan malah semakin intensif dalam beberapa jam terakhir," kata pejabat Hamas Taher al-Nunu.
