Seorang jenderal Pentagon memperingatkan bahwa Iran bisa ikut berperang jika Israel menyerang Hizbullah.
Hal itu disampaikan Kepala Staf Gabungan AS, Jenderal Angkatan Udara Charles Brown.
Menurutnya, Iran cenderung lebih mendukung Hizbullah daripada Hamas.
Sehingga jika militan Lebanon terancam, Iran akan pasang badan untuk melindungi.
"Iran akan lebih cenderung mendukung Hizbullah dibandingkan kelompok Hamas di Gaza," kata Brown kepada awak media, dikutip dari The Times of Israel, Senin (24/6/2024).
Brown memprediksi, perang antara Israel dengan Hizbullah akan punya dampak buruk yang sangat besar.
Ia pun memastikan bahwa AS tidak akan mampu memberikan senjata kepada Israel sama seperti yang diberikan saat Iran menyerang April lalu.
Sebagai informasi, ketegangan antara Israel dan Hizbullah meningkat dalam beberapa hari terakhir.
Militer Israel (IDF) bahkan sudah menyatakan siap menghadapi kemungkinan perang di perbatasan Lebanon.
Rencananya, sebagian pasukan dari Gaza akan dialihkan ke lokasi tersebut sebagai langkah awal.
Sementara itu, pemimpin Hizbullah Hassan Nasrallah mengaku tidak takut jika Israel menyerang Lebanon.
Ia menegaskan bahwa Hizbullah memiliki beragam senjata canggih.
Nasrallah juga menjamin tidak akan ada tempat aman di Israel jika perang skala penuh benar-benar terjadi.
