Bentrokan ini menandai adanya peningkatan ketegangan baru antara Islamabad dan Kabul.
Dikutip dari Al-Mayadeen.net, bentrokan meletus setelah pasukan Taliban menyerang posisi militer Pakistan di perbatasan.
Tindakan ini dilakukan membalas serangan udara Pakistan di ibu kota, Kabul, minggu lalu.
Pihak berwenang setempat di Provinsi Helmand melaporkan, bahwa pasukan Taliban telah mengklaim menguasai dua pos perbatasan tentara Pakistan.
Pejabat keamanan Pakistan pun mengonfirmasi adanya serangan ini.
Mereka menyebut, bentrokan terjadi di lebih dari lima lokasi di sepanjang perbatasan.
Pasukan Pakistan mengaku tengah memproses serangan tersebut.
Sumber keamanan di Islamabad mengatakan bahwa pasukannya menangkis serangan Taliban.
Selain itu, menembak jatuh tiga pesawat tanpa awak Afghanistan yang diduga membawa bahan peledak.
Sementara, Taliban mengumumkan pembunuhan dan penangkapan sejumlah tentara Pakistan dalam operasi balasan.
Mereka juga mengaku telah menguasai beberapa posisi militer Pakistan.
Merespons bentrokan ini, Kementerian Luar Negeri Saudi meminta Pakistan dan Afghanistan untuk menahan diri.
Tak hanya itu, keduanya juga diminta menghindari eskalasi perbatasan dan menekankan pentingnya dialog.
