Most passages of the Qur'an that mention a punishment soon mention a way back. Sūrat al-Humazah names a sin and gives no remedy except leaving it. In this jummah khutbah Shaykh Sulayman Van Ael explains who the humazah and the lumazah are (the mocking look, the gesture behind someone's back, the word that belittles a person Allah has honoured), how the habit can leave a heart with no worry but the dunyā, why the fire it ends in is called al-Ḥuṭamah, the Crusher, and why even the person who wronged you still has rights over your tongue. The people we talk about become prisoners of our words; the way out is to set them free.
