PLO | Giám đốc Sở Mật vụ Mỹ được yêu cầu điều trần sau vụ cựu Tổng thống Donald Trump bị ám sát hụtTheo báo New York Times, Cục Điều tra liên bang Mỹ (FBI) xác định nghi phạm bị lực lượng chức năng tiêu diệt tại hiện trường vụ mưu sát cựu tổng thống Mỹ Donald Trump tên là Thomas Matthew Crooks (20 tuổi), đến từ quận Bethel Park, bang Pennsylvania. Người này có lập trường chính trị không rõ ràng và từng có thành tích học tập tốt.
Nhà chức trách Mỹ cho biết nghi phạm bị bắn hạ trên nóc một tòa nhà gần nơi ông Trump tổ chức sự kiện vận động tranh cử. Thi thể Crooks được tìm thấy bên cạnh một khẩu súng trường tấn công bán tự động AR-15.
Trước áp lực từ dư luận về câu hỏi: Điều gì đã khiến xạ thủ 20 tuổi Thomas Matthew Crooks lọt được vào khu vận động tranh cử của cựu Tổng thống Donald Trump và suýt gây ra thảm họa cho nước Mỹ, Ủy ban Giám sát Hạ viện Mỹ đã yêu cầu Giám đốc Sở Mật vụ Kimberly Cheatle có mặt tại phiên điều trần dự kiến diễn ra ngày 22-7.
“Người Mỹ yêu cầu câu trả lời về vụ ám sát cựu Tổng thống Trump,” Ủy ban cho biết trong một tuyên bố trên X, đồng thời lưu ý rằng sự xuất hiện của bà Cheatle là tự nguyện. Cơ quan Mật vụ đã đồng ý thông báo ngắn gọn cho Ủy ban Giám sát Hạ viện (do Đảng Cộng hòa lãnh đạo) về vụ tấn công, một phát ngôn viên nói với The Hill.
