Sono le parole del Segretario di Stato Vaticano Pietro Parolin sulle recenti dichiarazioni del presidente Usa Donald Trump su Papa Leone XIV alla vigilia della visita a San Pietro del segretario di Stato Usa Marco Rubio. La dichiarazione di Mons. Parolin arriva a margine della presentazione del libro “Liberi sotto la grazia", che raccoglie gli scritti di Prevost ai tempi del priorato agostiniano, al Pontificio Istituto patristico Augustinianum. «Come valuto questi reiterati attacchi di Trump al Papa? Come vuole che li valuti? Non vorrei entrare in giudizi, in valutazioni personali su questa cosa» prosegue Parolin. «Io credo che il Papa fa quello che deve fare. Il Papa fa il Papa. Attaccarlo in questa maniera o rimproverare quello che fa mi pare un po' strano, perlomeno. Se gli Stati Uniti rimangono un interlocutore per noi? Come si fa a prescindere dagli Stati Uniti? Non si può prescindere dagli Stati Uniti. Nonostante qualche difficoltà che c'è, loro rimangono certamente un interlocutore per la Santa Città. Anche perché hanno un ruolo in quasi tutte le situazioni che oggi viviamo». E chiude con una battuta: «Lei conta più su Rubio o su Trump?
