South Africa: Ramaphosa's Partner Democratic Alliance Suspends MP Over Racism | Firstpost AfricaA South African lawmaker has been suspended by his party, the Democratic Alliance (DA), after old clips resurfaced of him using violent racial language against Black people. Renaldo Gouws insinuated one of the videos was doctored, however, his party has admitted the videos as genuine and not fake. DA is part of the newly formed coalition government in South Africa. After losing its 30-year majority, the ruling ANC shook hands with major rival DA to form a government of national unity along with other smaller parties. However, Gouws' videos add to the worries of those who see an alliance with DA as a potential throwback to the painful past of racism in South Africa. DA is known for being a party of ''white privilege''.
