You pass it on President Street. You hear about it in the market. As Rosh Hashana draws near, year after year, Crown Heights observes the phenomenon taking shape.
This hachnasas orchim operation is bigger than housing international guests for Tishrei. It’s bigger than free yom tov meals for bochurim and families. This is where the Rebbe’s Orchim get their nourishment to live the month of Tishrei by the Rebbe.
Avrohom Avinu’s Tent serves the local community. It serves Anash. It serves the Rebbe’s kinderlach, and fulfills the Rebbe’s l’chatchila-ariber vision for Tishrei in the Shechuna.
Thousands walk through the doors every day.
Over 100,000 hot gourmet meals will be served, plus cases of fresh sushi, untold numbers of delicious brick oven fleishig pizzas, and (new!) thousands of fresh challahs and cakes baked on-site.
People will come for food. They’ll come for yom tov vibes. They’ll come for farbrengens, for vegetables, for housing, for company, for comfort. They’ll come for everything. They’ll come because this is their Tishrei home!
This is hachnasas orchim for guests from far and near. This is hachnasas orchim for locals. This is chessed for Crown Heights: our permanent residents and our seasonal residents alike.

This year we managed to expand the hachnasas orchim operation to include an on-site industrial bakery. The aroma of golden challos and fresh baked goods now fills the air of the Rebbe’s Shchuna, wafting through the sukkah and common areas, taking hospitality to an entirely new level for 5786.
