LIVE: Tsunami warnings across the Pacific, NTSB hearing on DC midair collision, NY shooting latest

Tsunami alerts have been issued for parts of Russia, Japan, Alaska, Hawaii and the US West Coast after the earthquake struck off Russia's far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula.

In Washington the National Transportation Safety Board will hold a three-day investigative hearing on the Jan. 29 mid-air collision between a PSA Airlines CRJ700 regional jetliner and a U.S. Army Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
The two pilots, two flight attendants, and 60 passengers aboard the airplane, operated as American Airlines Flight 5342, were killed, along with the helicopter’s three crew members.

The NYPD continues to investigate Monday's deadly mass shooting at 345 Park Ave. in midtown Manhattan. Police say that Shane Tamura of Las Vegas traveled cross country before opening fire in the building, while Mayor Adams said this morning that the gunman was apparently targeting the NFL offices before getting lost in the elevator system of the NYC high-rise. This afternoon NYPD Officer Didarul Islam was transferred from the Manhattan medical examiner's office to a funeral home in the Bronx. This evening Adams and other officials attended a vigil for those killed in the attack. Meanwhile, the NYPD is investigating the origins of the rifle Tamura used in that attack.
