Menanggapi hal itu, AS menyebut militer Israel di Gaza membuat negara tersebut sangat lemah.
Dikutip dari The Times of Israel, hal itu disampaikan juru bicara Departemen Luar Negeri AS Matthew Miller.
Ia mengatakan keterlibatan militer Israel berkelanjutan di Gaza hanyalah resepn untuk konflik berkelanjutan.
Bahkan Miller menegaskan keberlanjutan Israel di Gaza akan membuat negara tersebut tidak stabil.
AS menyebut Israel perlu mempertahankan kendali keamanan di Gaza sesuai kebutuhan Zionis.
Adapun kebutuhan itu memastikan Hamas tidak dapat menghidupkan kembali kehadirannya di Gaza.
Namun sebaliknya, aksi Israel di Gaza yang berkelanjutan membuat Zionis semakin lemah.
Kondisi itu membuat Israel sulit mencapai resolusi wilayah di utara.
Meski begitu, Miller menegaskan AS akan mengedepankan jalan alternatif yang benar-benar membantu keamanan Israel.
“Tetapi kami juga berpikir bahwa aksi militer yang berkelanjutan di Gaza hanya membuat Israel semakin lemah." ucap Miller.
