Austrian behavioral biologist Johannes Fritz is a pioneer in species conservation. He has dedicated his life to saving the Northern Bald Ibis from extinction, leading one of Europe's most ambitious reintroduction projects. He developed the world's only human-driven bird migration method, using ultralight aircraft to teach captive-bred ibises about their ancestral route through the Alps. Today more than 300 Northern Northern Bald Ibises live in the wild in Europe.
