This is the all-new Audi Q5!

The Q5 is one of Audi’s most important cars. In 2024 it was its best-selling car, with more than 300,000 units being shipped! The question is, is it an improvement over the previous model? We’ve got our hands on the SQ5 edition, so let’s take a closer look…

When it comes to the design, the Q5 still looks really smart. Compared to the previous car, it has a wider grille, thinner headlights, and an updated bumper that now houses all of the autonomous driving tech. The indentations on the bonnet for this SQ5 edition also give it a bit more definition on the road. There are new alloy designs to choose from, and around the back, you’ll find a full-length light bar. Being the SQ5 edition, it comes with quad tailpipes, and they’re 100% real exhausts - no fakery here!

As expected, the Q5 is really smart on the inside. Swooping across the dashboard is a large infotainment/digital dial screen, and the UI is really quick and responsive. The digital dials can be customised to the driver’s taste, and the car we have here even has a second screen for the front passenger! Unfortunately, unlike the previous car, there are almost no physical buttons left, and the individual buttons on the steering wheel have also been removed. Sports seats come as standard, and the majority of the cabin is covered in soft-touch materials.

The Q5’s engine range starts with a 2-litre turbo petrol & 2-litre turbo diesel. Both of these engines deliver 204hp, and they both come with a mild-hybrid system. The SQ5 is equipped with a 3-litre turbo V6, and this delivers 367hp. It also has a mild-hybrid system, and all options come equipped with Quattro all-wheel drive.

The entry-level Q5 Sport starts at £52,310, with the price rising all the way to £75,525 for the top-of-the-range SQ5! So should you choose it over a BMW X3 or Mercedes GLC? Stick with Mat to see for yourself!
