Sommerzeit ist Mittelalterzeit, denn deutschlandweit gibt es dann inzwischen zahlreiche Mittelalterfeste, bei denen sich Fans des Mittelalters in entsprechender historischer Verkleidung treffen.Auch die „Legion of the Stag“, die „Legion des Hirsches“, ist oft dabei: Eine bunte Truppe, die sich regelmäßig auf der Ulmer Wilhelmsburg trifft. Ihr Hobby: Schau-Schwertkämpfe des Mittelalters. Mit echten Schwertern dreschen sie aufeinander ein, in voller Rittermontur. Natürlich wird alles streng eingeübt, langes Training ist nötig, damit das Verletzungsrisiko klein bleibt.
Was ist so toll daran, unter einer 15 Kilo schweren Metallrüstung in praller Sonne das Schwert zu schwingen? Und warum sind sie eigentlich vom Mittelalter so begeistert? Das hat sich MOMA-Reporter Fabian Siegel gefragt und die Truppe begleitet.
