Myanmar ist einer der wichtigsten Lieferanten der Welt für Seltene Erden. Die werden zum Beispiel für die Produktion von Elektroautos und Wärmepumpen gebraucht – auch von deutschen Unternehmen. Doch für die Menschen im angrenzenden Thailand ist der Bergbau eine Katastrophe: Flüsse in der Region sind von Schwermetallen verseucht. Christiane Justus aus dem ARD-Studio Singapur ist in die Region gereist und hat mit Betroffenen und Wissenschaftlern gesprochen.
