Intervenendo a L’Aria che Tira, Alessandro Onorato ha commentato il caso Report e, più in generale, il rapporto tra il governo e la Rai, criticando duramente l’atteggiamento della destra nei confronti del servizio pubblico. «La destra sta esagerando sulla Rai, si è persa la pluralità», ha dichiarato Onorato. Parlando nello specifico di Report, ha sottolineato come il programma abbia realizzato nel corso degli anni inchieste che hanno riguardato esponenti e partiti di ogni schieramento: «Ha fatto inchieste su tutti. La destra le mal sopporta, mentre noi ci mettiamo l’anima in pace». Secondo Onorato, il problema sarebbe più ampio e riguarderebbe il rapporto della destra con il giornalismo d’inchiesta e con il controllo esercitato dall’informazione pubblica: «C’è una scarsa accettazione del controllo del giornalismo pubblico italiano da parte della destra».
