Auto Focus Camera 1.0.8 Beta 8 introduces Auto Exposure: a real-time camera-view metering tool designed primarily to help you create exposure bakes quickly and consistently.
Auto Exposure is currently available on Windows only. The feature uses Windows-native real-time capture and calibration, keeping CPU/GPU overhead low and requiring no external modules or additional installations.
At this time, macOS and Linux do not offer an equivalent native capture and calibration path that delivers the same real-time performance and efficiency without external dependencies. For that reason, Auto Exposure is intentionally enabled only on Windows in this beta.
Recommended Workflow
Auto Exposure is best used while baking with Eevee, in a scene that can play back close to real time. This gives the meter a steady, responsive image source and allows for faster bakes with more reliable calibration.
Cycles is not currently recommended for Auto Exposure baking. Initial render samples, denoising, and progressive noise cleanup can change the apparent brightness from moment to moment, which may mislead the exposure meter and produce less consistent results.
Your Render Output Stays Unchanged Until You Apply the Bake
Auto Exposure does not alter your final render output automatically.
After creating a bake, apply it through the compositor:
Side Panel → Auto Focus → Create Exposure Node
This option becomes available when an exposure bake exists. Clicking it automatically creates a compositor Exposure node on the active View Layer, labeled “Baked Auto Exposure.” The node includes a driver connected to the exposure values generated by Auto Focus Camera.
This keeps the process deliberate: you can bake exposure data first, review it, and decide when to apply it to your final compositor output. Receive SMS online on sms24.me
