Aksi ini digelar sebagai respons atas insiden represif aparat terhadap masyarakat.
Termasuk viralnya peristiwa pengemudi ojek online terlindas kendaraan taktis (rantis) Brimob pada demo 28 Agustus malam.
Demonstrasi akan dimulai dari kawasan FX Sudirman, Jakarta Pusat, yang rencananya dimulai selepas salat Jumat.
Massa kemudian akan melakukan longmarch dengan titik akhir di gedung Polda Metro Jaya.
Rencana demo ini juga dikonfirmasi oleh Koordinator Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa UI.
Koordinator BEM UI, Bima menyatakan aksi ini adalah bentuk solidaritas terhadap perjuangan rakyat yang dinilai dicederai tindakan brutal aparat kepolisian.
Ia menyebut ada sekitar 150 mahasiswa dari Ikatan Keluarga Mahasiswa Universitas Indonesia mendaftar untuk mengikuti aksi ini.
Selain dari BEM UI, ajakan para mahasiswa untuk turun ke jalan juga disampaikan oleh BEM SI.
“Tidak dapat berkata-kata melihat kondisi hari ini, juga himbauan kepada seluruh mahasiswa Indonesia untuk turun ke jalan dan menuntut keadilan dan tanggung jawab presiden terhadap semua kisruh yang terjadi,” ungkap Koordinator Pusat BEM SI Kerakyatan, Muhammad Ikram.
Adapun lima tuntutan utama yang akan disampaikan mahasiswa dalam aksi tersebut, salah satunya meminta agar Kapolda dan Kapolri dicopot dari jabatan.
