A longtime adviser to the US government who played a key role in facilitating the nuclear deal between the United States and India, Ashley Tellis has been arrested on charges of espionage with a possible link to China. During a raid on his house, the FBI discovered multiple state documents marked as secret files. These classified documents consisted of information on U.S. military aircraft and their capabilities. Tellis has been charged with an unlawful hoarding of defence documents. The decision to conduct a raid was based on multiple CCTV footage. This footage showed Tellis entering and exiting the FBI building with a briefcase in his hand, raising suspicions among the authorities. Investigators mentioned that Tellis had met multiple Chinese officials on separate occasions. This isn't a one-off case, as in the past the FBI has arrested multiple officials and contractors working as contractual advisors on charges of espionage. Such incidents not only threaten the U.S. security but also the security of other countries, including India, which have diplomatic relations with the country. Palki Sharma tells you more.---
