Hal itu diungkap Trump dalam pidato di hadapan rakyatnya di Gedung Putih pada hari yang sama pukul 10.00 waktu setempat.
Dalam pidato tersebut, Presiden AS juga mengumumkan bahwa pasukan militer negara tersebut telah menghancurkan tiga fasilitas nuklir utama Iran, yakni Isfahan, Natanz, dan Fordow.
Trump menyebut, keputusan AS untuk menyerang Iran sudah dipertimbangkan selama dua minggu.
Trump mengungkap alasannya menyerang tiga fasilitas nuklir milik Iran adalah untuk menghentikan ancaman nuklir.
Ia memuji serangan itu merupakan keberhasilan militer yang spektakuler.
Terkait serangan tersebut, Iran sendiri telah memberikan komentar dan responnya.
Pihak berwenang Iran telah memberikan pernyataan terkait serangan pesawat tempur Amerika Serikat ke tiga fasilitas pengembangan nuklir mereka.
Iran menyebut, penyerangan tersebut tidak menimbulkan banyak dampak bagi negaranya
Iran juga membantah klaim yang menyebut teknologi nuklir mereka hancur akibat serangan itu
Organisasi Energi Atom Iran mengatakan bahwa data sistem radiasi dan survei lapangan tidak menunjukkan tanda-tanda kontaminasi atau bahaya bagi penduduk di dekat lokasi fasilitas nuklir yang dibom AS; Fordow, Isfahan, dan Natanz.
Penasihat ketua parlemen Iran Mehdi Mohammadi mengungkap pemerintah Iran sudah memprediksi serangan terhadap fasilitas nuklir Fordow.
Sehingga, fasilitas itu telah dievakuasi
Menurutnya, berkat antisipasi tersebut maka tidak ada kerusakan di fasilitas nuklir Fordow yang tidak dapat dipulihkan.
