Hal itu menambah langkah strategis Indonesia setelah kontrak jet Rafale dengan Prancis.
Kesepakatan itu diumumkan oleh Presiden Turki, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, melalui media X, Rabu (11/6/2025).
"Sebagai bagian dari perjanjian yang ditandatangani dengan negara sahabat dan saudara kita, Indonesia, sebanyak 48 Kaan akan diproduksi di Turki dan dikirim ke Indonesia," tulisnya.
Dalam unggahan itu, Erdogan menyebut Indonesia sebagai negara sahabat dan saudara hingga produksi jet akan dilakukan di Turki.
Nilai kontrak pembelian mencapai 10 miliar dolar AS atau sekira Rp 162 triliun, menjadi rekor ekspor militer terbesar bagi Turki.
Dilaporkan pengiriman jet dilakukan secara bertahap selama sepuluh tahun, disertai kerja sama teknologi dengan industri dalam negeri Indonesia.
"Kapabilitas dalam negeri Indonesia juga akan digunakan dalam produksi jet Kaan," imbuh Erdogan.
Bahkan pembelian ini memperkuat modernisasi alutsista Indonesia di bawah kepemimpinan Presiden Prabowo Subianto.
Sebagai informasi, jet tempur Kaan merupakan proyek unggulan Turkish Aerospace Industries yang terbang perdana pada Februari 2024.
Jet bertenis Kaan generasi awal diketahui menggunakan mesin sekelas F-16, namun akan dikembangkan lebih lanjut dengan mesin buatan Turki.
