MOMA-Reporter: Ehrenamtliche betreiben Biberbahn | ARD Morgenmagazin

Die Biberbahn zwischen Stockach am Bodensee und Mengen in Oberschwaben war schon einmal stillgelegt - zu wenig lukrativ. Dann aber haben Ehrenamtliche die Bahn im Jahr 2021 wiederbelebt. Seitdem hält sich die Biberbahn beharrlich – und fährt sonntags mehrmals zwischen den beiden Orten hin und her. Selbst ein Gottesdienst findet in dem Zug statt!
Möglich ist all das durch die Helfer, die in ihrer Freizeit mit anpacken: Sie kontrollieren Fahrkarten, agieren als lebende Bahnschranken und halten die Strecke instand. Und sie wollen mehr: Die Biberbahn soll täglich fahren.
Warum sie übrigens so heißt? Weil sie auf ihrer Strecke durch viele Feuchtgebiete fährt, in denen zahlreich Biber leben sollen.
