Entre 2019 y 2024, al menos 10 mil perros en situación de abandono fueron sacrificados en Tecámac, Estado de México. Así lo confirmó la senadora de Morena y ex alcaldesa de dicho municipio, Mariela Gutiérrez Escalante. La tarde del 15 de abril, tras la difusión de un video grabado a finales de 2025 en el que la propia legisladora reconoció los hechos, Gutiérrez Escalante aseguró que la información fue "tergiversada y sacada de contexto", pero aseguró que no se escondería porque los sucesos ocurrieron "bajo el marco de la ley".#telediarionocturno
