US President Donald Trump's trade adviser Peter Navarro has once again hit out at India, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of fuelling the Russia-Ukraine war. He went so far as to call it "Modi's war." Navarro said the road to peace in Ukraine runs through India, adding that if India stops buying Russian oil, Vladimir Putin will run out of money faster, and the war will end. That is Washington’s argument — the same Washington that is itself pursuing energy deals with Russia and rolling out the red carpet for Putin. Meanwhile, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent struck a different note, saying India and the US will eventually find common ground on trade.
