Uribe sebelumnya menjadi korban penembakan saat melakukan kampanye pemilihan presiden (Pilpres) di Bogota pada Sabtu (7/6/2025).
Menteri Pertahanan Kolombia Pedro Sanchez mengatakan, negara akan menggunakan seluruh sumber daya penegakan hukum, termasuk menawarkan imbalan fantastis bagi siapa pun yang memberi informasi soal pelaku utama penembakan.
Presiden Kolombia, Gustavo Petro, juga menegaskan komitmennya untuk mengungkap siapa dalang di balik serangan itu.
Ia menyebut insiden ini sebagai hari penuh penderitaan bagi bangsa Kolombia.
Dikutip dari New York Post, petugas telah menangkap remaja berusia 15 tahun yang membawa senjata api jenis pistol Glock (9 mm).
Namun, saat ini penyelidikan difokuskan untuk mengungkap siapa sosok yang memerintahkan remaja tersebut menembak Uribe.
Sebagai informasi, Miguel Uribe dikenal sebagai sosok kritikus keras terhadap Presiden Petro.
Ia merupakan anggota partai oposisi Pusat Demokratik dan telah menyatakan niatnya mencalonkan diri dalam pemilihan presiden Kolombia 2026 sejak Oktober tahun lalu.
Pihak berwenang menyebut tidak ada ancaman khusus yang diketahui terhadap Uribe sebelum insiden penembakan.
Namun, Kolombia sendiri dikenal memiliki sejarah panjang dalam hal kekerasan politik.
Sementara itu, Uribe masih dalam kondisi kritis setelah ditembak tiga kali oleh pelaku.
