Pakistan: Over 100 Imran Khan's PTI Members Jailed For 2023 Protests | Spotlight | N18GPakistan authorities have intensified a crackdown on the members of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). More than a hundred party members have been handed prison sentences in connection with the 2023 violent protests. A Pakistani anti-terrorism court reportedly gave 58 defendants, including parliamentarians and senior officials, a ten-year prison sentence, while the rest of the accused were given sentences ranging from one to three years. The convicts also include the leaders of the opposition in the lower and upper houses of the parliament, Omar Ayub Khan and Shibli Faraz. Condemning the conviction, the PTI called the verdict "sad and shameful", adding that the leaders were punished for being loyal allies of Imran Khan. The PTI said it will challenge the verdict.
