UMAP la película rescata testimonios de represión en Cuba
UMAP la película reúne testimonios de sobrevivientes de las Unidades Militares de Ayuda a la Producción, campos de trabajo creados por el régimen cubano. En este fragmento de Hola! Ota-Ola, Alex Otaola presenta imágenes del proyecto dirigido por Lilo Vilaplana y explica por qué documentar estas experiencias sigue siendo relevante para Cuba y su diáspora.Los entrevistados recuerdan persecución por motivos políticos y por orientación sexual, expulsiones estudiantiles, jornadas de hasta 12 o 14 horas cortando caña y castigos que dejaron secuelas durante décadas. Sus relatos también describen abusos, humillaciones y la necesidad de preservar esta memoria para hijos, nietos y futuras generaciones.
Otaola relaciona esos testimonios con la experiencia del opositor y preso político cubano Elías Biscet, y pide respaldar la producción para que las historias puedan conocerse fuera de Cuba.
