Theo Bộ Ngoại giao Trung Quốc, gần đây, Mỹ lại tuyên bố bán vũ khí cho Đài Loan, vi phạm nghiêm trọng nguyên tắc “Một Trung Quốc” và 3 thông cáo chung Trung – Mỹ, can thiệp vào công việc nội bộ, gây tổn hại nghiêm trọng đến chủ quyền và toàn vẹn lãnh thổ của Trung Quốc. Căn cứ vào các quy định liên quan của Luật chống trừng phạt nước ngoài, Trung Quốc đã quyết định áp dụng các biện pháp trừng phạt đối với 6 công ty công nghiệp quân sự và 5 nhà quản lý cấp cao của Mỹ.
