Eks PM Malaysia itu mengaku kagum akan pembangunan di Indonesia.
Kekaguman itu, kata Mahathir, muncul karena Indonesia mampu mencukupi makan 300 juta penduduk.
Menurutnya, pencapaian itu patut dibanggakan.
Ia mengaku tidak ada pesan khusus untuk presiden ke-7 itu. Selain itu, tidak ada pembicaraan politik dengan Jokowi.
Lebih lanjut, Mahathir mendorong peningkatan kerja sama bilateral antara Indonesia dan Malaysia, terutama di bidang perdagangan.
Mahathir juga menyoroti potensi perdagangan antara kedua negara yang masih bisa dikembangkan lebih jauh.
Ia berharap kerja sama yang lebih erat dapat memberikan manfaat bagi kedua negara, baik dalam aspek ekonomi maupun kesejahteraan masyarakat.
Kunjungan Mahathir ke Indonesia bukanlah yang pertama kali.
Sebelumnya, ia juga pernah datang ke Indonesia saat meninggalnya Presiden Kedua RI, Soeharto, pada 2008 lalu.
