LA Riots LIVE: Trump Defends Troop Deployment | Mass Arrests After Downtown Curfew | Palki SharmaRiots in Los Angeles continue unabated, while protests against ICE immigration raids are now spreading to New York, Chicago, Austin, Dallas, and Tampa. In a rare move, US President Donald Trump is deploying 700 Marines to Los Angeles. They are currently stationed at a base in California and have already begun their journey to the city. In Los Angeles, most of the unrest has been concentrated in downtown areas near detention centres and courthouses, where many migrants are being held. Hundreds of protesters gathered outside these buildings but were pushed back by security personnel.
Trump defended his decision to deploy 700 Marines and 4,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles following violent clashes between protesters and law enforcement after a series of immigration raids.
"What you're witnessing in California is a full-blown assault on peace, public order, and national sovereignty, carried out by rioters waving foreign flags," Trump said. "We will liberate Los Angeles and make it free, clean, and safe again." The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that "dozens of arrests" have been made as protest groups continue to gather in areas affected by the curfew.
