Menurutnya, langkah yang sudah ditempuh lewat sidang dan pembahasan Undang-Undang Hak Cipta adalah sinyal positif bagi dunia musik Indonesia.
Ruth mengaku lega karena isu royalti yang sudah lama diperbincangkan kini mulai menemukan titik terang.
“Sebenarnya saya senang malah. Sekarang saya bicaranya mengenai ini aja deh, yang udah mulai berjalan kan gitu," beber Ruth Sahanaya di kawasan Kemang Jakarta Selatan, Senin (15/9/2025).
"Jadi kalau ngomongin yang lalu-lalu semua udah tahu lah ya sebenarnya, udah lama dibahas masalah ini,” ujar mamah Ute.
Ia menilai, meski masih ada proses panjang, arah pembahasan saat ini sudah menunjukkan perkembangan yang lebih baik dibanding sebelumnya.
“Kalau untuk saya, saya melihatnya bahwa kita harus lihat ke depannya bahwa udah, udah lebih baik, sudah lebih membaik," katanya.
"Walaupun sekarang masih tetap dicari formulanya yang baik untuk kedua belah pihak gitu ya, untuk pencipta maupun kita sebagai penyanyi dan seluruh musisi,” lanjut Ruth Sahanaya.
Bagi Ruth, penting sekali agar semua pihak yang terlibat dalam industri musik mendapatkan perlakuan adil.
Ia menekankan bahwa tanggung jawab ini tidak bisa dibebankan hanya pada satu pihak saja.
“Semua elemen-elemen yang memang harusnya sih, ehm, sama-sama menjadi tanggung jawab kita bersama, gitu loh,” tambahnya.
