Rumah sakit setempat bahkan hingga tak menerima pasien baru sebelum kasus berhasil ditangani.
Kementerian Kesehatan melaporkan bahwa 104 pasien telah didiagnosis menderita Demam West Nile dalam wabah baru-baru ini.
Bahkan 68 di antaranya dirawat di rumah sakit.
Sementara delapan orang meninggal karena penyakit tersebut.
Sebuah komite darurat khusus dibentuk karena kekhawatiran mengenai lonjakan kasus virus.
Rumah Sakit (RS) Rambam di Kota Haifa, Israel, mendesak agar tindakan darurat segera diambil guna menangani wabah infeksi yang sudah menyebar di tiga bangsal.
Sejauh ini sudah ada 50 pasien di Rambam yang terinfeksi.
Awalnya kasus infeksi ini ditemukan di bangsal internal dan ruang bedah saraf.
Menurut laporan, infeksi itu tidak membahayakan orang sehat.
Meski demikian, infeksi itu bisa mengancam nyawa pasien yang memiliki sistem kekebalan tubuh lemah.
Prof. Miki Halbertal, Direktur RS Rambam mengatakan tenaga kesehatan akan bekerja dengan alat pelindung diri lengkap ketika berpindah dari satu pasien ke pasien lain.
Wabah ini muncul sat konflik Israel dengan sejumlah militan mulai dari Hamas, Hizbullah hingga Houthi memanas.
Tak hanya wabah penyakit, Israel juga diwarnai gelombang demonstrasi besar-besaran.
