Airbus A350F First Flight: A New Era for Cargo?

The Airbus A350F takes flight for the first time, and we're there to capture the entire day. Join Flightradar24 in Toulouse as Airbus’ new cargo aircraft makes its maiden flight, beginning its flight test programme ahead of certification and deliveries in 2027.

We’re on the ground to witness this milestone for the Airbus A350 freighter, explore what it brings to the air cargo market and meet two of the competition winners behind its distinctive livery.

Designed to carry up to 111 tonnes of payload over 8,700 kilometres, the A350F features a massive 4.3-metre-wide main deck cargo door. With aging widebody freighters needing replacement and Boeing 747 production now over, Airbus sees an opportunity for a new generation of cargo aircraft.

The first test aircraft, MSN700, spent four hours and ten minutes airborne with five test crew members on board, reaching 25,000 feet at the highest. Together with a second aircraft, MSN701, it will undertake around 400 flight test hours as Airbus works towards certification and customer deliveries.

What do you think of the A350F, and its very special livery? Let us know in the comments.
