Salama salah satu rekan terdekat Deif dan terlibat dalam perencanaan serangan Hamas ke Israel pada 7 Oktober.
IDF menyebut kematian Rafa Salama secara signifikan menghambat kemampuan militer Hamas.
Sementara itu Hamas belum mengonformasi kematian Salama.
Berdasarakan laporan i24news, sumber-sumber Palestina mengatakan Rafa Salama segera dimakamkan.
Sebelumnya pada hari itu, IDF mengkonfirmasi bahwa mereka menargetkan Salama bersama Muhammad Deif.
Deif diidentifikasi sebagai seorang teroris yang mengatur banyak serangan mematikan terhadap Israel mulai tahun 1990-an.
Namun kematian Deif belum dapat dikonfirmasi meski sebelumnya Israel mengklaim telah membunuhnya dalam serangan tersebut.
Tetapi Perdana Menteri Israel Benjamin Netanyahu meragukan hal tersebut.
Netanyahu menggambarkan Deif, kepala sayap militer Hamas, sebagai "perencana dan pemimpin" serangan 7 Oktober yang memicu perang Gaza.
Menurut kementerian kesehatan di wilayah itu, 90 orang tewas dan 300 terluka dalam serangan di Al-Mawasi, dekat kota selatan Khan Younis.(*)
