Meski dikawal ketat oleh jet tempur China yang terbang sangat dekat, awak pesawat Kanada tetap melanjutkan misi.
Insiden itu terjadi di wilayah udara internasional ketika pesawat Kanada CP-140 Aurora sedang mendukung penegakan sanksi Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (PBB) terhadap Korut.
Menurut laporan, jet Tiongkok membayangi pesawat tersebut selama kurang lebih 30 menit.
Bahkan jaraknya diperkirakan kurang dari 200 kaki.
Membalas langka h China, kapten pesawat milik Kanada langsung bereaksi.
Ia menegaskan jika pesawatnya beroperasi di wilayah udara internasional dan melaksanakan tugas semua negara.
Brigadir Jenderal Jeff Davis, komandan operasi Kanada memastikan, misi akan tetap berjalan sampai kondisi tetap aman.
“Selama semua tindakan tetap profesional dan aman, misi ini akan terus berjalan,” ujarnya.
Sementara pihak China tak menanggapi pesan radio yang disampaikan pilot Kanada.
Namun, mereka tetap mengikuti pergerakan pesawat Kanada tersebut.
Beberapa jam kemudian, jet tempur China lain muncul yang membawa rudal dan terbang sangat dekat.
