Menanggapi viralnya kasus tersebut Gubernur Papua Barat Daya Elisa Kambu membantah adanya kerusakan.
Elisa menegaskan rusaknya Pulau Gag akibat tambang nikel adalah hoaks.
Pernyataan itu disampaikan Elisa pada Sabtu (7/6).
Menurut Elisa kondisi Pulau Gag saat ini masih baik dan tidak ada pencemaran limbah.
"Tadi kita sampai Pulau Gag, dari video yang rame itu kan, laut itu kan coklat, ya. Tapi tadi kita ke sana (warna) biru," ujar Elisa.
Dilansir dari Bangka Pos, Elisa dilantik menjadi gubernur pada 20 Februari 2025 lalu.
Sebelum menjabat sebagai gubernur, ia pernah bertugas sebagai Bupati Kabupaten Asmat selama dua periode.
Ia juga pernah menjabat sebagai Kepala Badan Penagwasan Daerah dan Sekretaris Daerah Kabupaten Asmat.
Ia lahir pada 12 Maret 1964 di Kampung Tolak Ayamaru, Papua Barat.
Elisa pernah menempuh pendidikan di Universitas Cenderawasih Jayapura dan mengambil jurusan Administrasi Negara. (Tribun-Video.com/BangkaPos.com)
