Kendaraan militer IDF tersebut sebelumnya diketahui melakukan penggerebekan di daerah Jenin.
Sementara itu, Militer Israel mengatakan mereka telah mengambil “kendali operasional” atas wilayah timur kamp pengungsi Bureij dan kota Deir al-Balah di Gaza tengah, ketika puluhan warga Palestina dilaporkan tewas.
Pada Rabu (5/6/2024) pagi lalu waktu setempat, militer Israel mengatakan pasukan yang didukung serangan udara telah memulai operasi melawan “Hamas dan infrastruktur Hamas di atas dan di bawah tanah”.
Warga melaporkan pemboman hebat dan badan amal Médecins Sans Frontières mengatakan sedikitnya 70 orang tewas.
Mirisnya, mayoritas wanita dan anak-anak, namun telah dibawa ke rumah sakit setempat sejak Selasa (4/6/2024).
Diketahui, Bureij adalah salah satu dari delapan kamp pengungsi bersejarah di Gaza.
Wilayah ini mencakup area seluas 0,5 km persegi (0,2 mil persegi) dan memiliki 46.000 penduduk yang terdaftar di badan PBB untuk pengungsi Palestina (Unrwa) sebelum perang.
Kamp ini terletak tepat di sebelah selatan dasar sungai Wadi Gaza dan “Koridor Jalur Gaza Tengah” milik IDF.
Yakni sebuah wilayah yang dikuasai pasukan Israel yang membentang dari timur ke barat dari perbatasan dengan Israel hingga Laut Mediterania, yang membagi Gaza menjadi dua.
Kamp pengungsi Nuseirat dan Maghazi juga terletak di dekat Bureij, sedangkan kota Deir al-Balah berjarak sekitar 5 km (3 mil) ke arah barat daya.
