And now, news concerning the future of 2.2 million students: the Supreme Court is set to hear a petition today challenging the NTA's decision to re-conduct the NEET-UG 2026 exam. A bench led by Justice Surya Kant will hear the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in this matter. The petition claims that the decision to hold the exam again on June 21—based on allegations of paper leaks and irregularities affecting approximately 2.2 million candidates nationwide—is arbitrary and unconstitutional. Filed by Mangla Kohli, the petition seeks to quash the National Testing Agency's (NTA) decision to re-conduct the NEET-UG 2026 exam; the petitioner asserts that strict action should be taken against the guilty parties. Meanwhile, to prevent paper leaks during the re-examination, the government has banned the Telegram app in India until June 22; this means people in India will be unable to access the app until the re-exam concludes. Notably, the Telegram app has been used by the mafia in all previous paper leak incidents, including the leak of the NEET exam held on May 3. Consequently, at the NTA's request, the IT Ministry has banned the Telegram app across the country until June 22.
