Finding ecoharmony after natural disasters | Jue Jue Min Thu | TEDxChiangMai

Drawing from the Maui wildfires and Myanmar earthquake, Jue Jue explains how trauma rearranges memory, identity, and community. She shows how sunlight, water, movement, and sensory grounding restore safety and presence. Her stories illustrate how reconnecting with nature becomes a pathway to reconnect with oneself and others. Key message: Nature is not just a place to escape — it is a partner in healing. Jue Jue is a social worker at Queen’s Medical Center, Hawaii, a lecturer at the University of Hawaii, and a Myanmar community leader. Born in Myanmar, she was exiled to Thailand at age 13. A 2016 Master of Social Work graduate from Washington University in St. Louis, she works to expand mental health access in Myanmar through her organization that’s Jue Jue’s Safe Space. Following the February 2021 military coup, she intensified her community advocacy, addressing collective trauma and collaborating with individuals and women leaders to support resilience and recovery in Myanmar.
