Sul significato politico di questo cambiamento interviene a Un Giorno Speciale Roberto Vivaldelli, giornalista di InsideOver: "Lei è un po' la spia di quello che pensa Trump, che ha un po' cambiato idea sull'Ucraina. Dello spirito di Anchorage, cioè dell'incontro tra Trump e Putin, non è sostanzialmente rimasto nulla. Anche il recente incontro tra Lavrov e Rubio è andato molto male, peraltro è durato anche una mezz'oretta." Bianchi precisa: "35 minuti." E Vivaldelli conferma: "Esatto, non c'è molto da dire insomma."
Il giornalista ricostruisce le aspettative disattese dell'amministrazione americana: "L'amministrazione Trump si aspettava che Putin mollasse completamente l'Iran. Chissà per quale motivo aveva questa speranza. E così ovviamente non è stato, perché i russi come i cinesi non ragionano in maniera così estemporanea come fa Trump, che peraltro è abbastanza difficile affidarsi a un uomo così imprevedibile, sarebbe abbastanza sciocco e imprudente. Infatti così è stato. E Trump sostanzialmente si è un po' scocciato e anche per varie pressioni sull'Ucraina, come abbiamo visto anche dall'ottimo incontro con Zelensky, ha cambiato idea."
