La Tbm Viviana ha iniziato in mattinata del 17 settembre, a 600 metri sotto il comune di Saint-Martin-la-Porte, il suo cammino dentro la montagna per scavare il tratto di circa 9 km del tunnel di base della Torino-Lione. L’opera prevede nei prossimi due anni l’avvio di tutte e sette le frese che dovranno completare la galleria ferroviaria più lunga e profonda al mondo.
Il tunnel di base del Moncenisio, lungo 57,5 km, rappresenta il cuore della sezione transfrontaliera della nuova linea ferroviaria merci e passeggeri che collegherà Lione e Torino. Il progetto si inserisce nel Corridoio Mediterraneo della rete Ten-T dell’Unione Europea, pensata per sviluppare una mobilità integrata e sostenibile e ridurre l’impatto ambientale del trasporto merci all’interno del continente.
