Höchsttemperaturen um die 40 Grad: Früher als normal üblich im Jahr erreicht die erste Hitzewelle Deutschland. Die Trockenheit hat Auswirkungen auf Pflanzen, Böden und Gewässer. Der Wasserstand der Elbe ist bereits jetzt niedriger als normal. Auch beim Rhein sinkt der Pegel. Frachtschiffe werden dann häufig nur noch zu 50 % beladen. Land- und Forstwirtschaft stellen sich auf die Hitzeperioden ein. Doch die Umstellung braucht seine Zeit. Pflanzen und Bäume, wie die Rubinie, die mit der Trockenheit besser zurechtkommen, müssen über Jahre aufgezogen werden, sagt Professor Fred Hattermann vom Potsdamer Institut für Klimafolgenforschung.
