LIVE: UN Holds Briefing After Trump Administration Withdraws from UNESCO Again | N18GA spokesperson for United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, Stéphane Dujarric, said on Tuesday (July 22) that the U.N. chief "deeply regretted the decision" by President Donald Trump to withdraw the United States from UNESCO, the U.N. culture and education agency.
The Trump administration is repeating a move made during his first term, which was reversed by President Joe Biden.
The withdrawal from the Paris-based agency, founded after World War Two to promote peace through international cooperation in education, science, and culture, is set to take effect at the end of next year.
