But missions to Mars demand a different set of qualities: resourcefulness, resilience and autonomy. Rather than default to who we have always pictured as an astronaut, this talk looks at what the research shows about who leads with those qualities, and makes the case for why sending women to Mars first is the smart move.Caroline lived this question first-hand as an analogue astronaut at LunAres Research Station in Poland, part of a crew simulating life on the lunar surface.
