Only AI can make me smile | Dr. Aashish Sharma | TEDxQuest International College
What does it take to build something meaningful when the odds seem to be against you?In his talk, Dr. Aashish Sharma shares the story of building a business from Nepal, a country where entrepreneurs often face geographical, structural, and market limitations, including a strong preference for products from neighboring and more established markets.
His journey was far from straightforward. At a time when he presented his ideas to others, those very ideas were met with laughter and disbelief. But rather than seeing Nepal’s limitations as reasons to give up, he chose to see them as reasons to prove what was possible.
Dr. Sharma reflects on the challenges of building a business in an environment where the ecosystem may not always provide the same advantages as major global business hubs. His experience challenges the belief that successful businesses can only emerge from places like New York, Silicon Valley, or other established markets.
Through his journey of building a company that has grown to reach 48 countries, he shares a powerful message: "your circumstances may define the difficulty of the journey, but they do not have to define its outcome."
Under the theme “Threads of Possibility,” Dr. Sharma invites us to look differently at limitations. Sometimes, the very obstacles that make a path difficult can become the motivation to create, persist, and prove what can be achieved.
You don’t necessarily need to be in the world’s biggest business hub to build something that reaches the world.
Sometimes, you simply need to believe that your limitations are not the end of the story. Dr. Aashish Sharma is the Founder and Managing Director of Singapore Beverages Nepal Pvt. Ltd., a Nepali beverage company with an international presence. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
