Sebelumnya, Israel pada Minggu, 23 Februari 2025, menuntut agar Hamas memenuhi tuntutan berhenti menjadikan pembebasan sandera warga negara Israel sebagai selebrasi karena cara itu dianggap memalukan.
Jika tuntutan ini tak diindahkan, maka Israel akan menunda pembebasan ratusan tahanan warga Palestina yang semula dijadwalkan dibebaskan pada hari itu.
